Wall Mounted Vanity Basins

Wall mounted basins are used when a vanity cabinet is not required. They create a more uncluttered minimalist look. You can enhance the look of a wall basin by adding a shroud.

Wall mounted basins are attached directly to the wall with the space under the basin open. The pipework is generally concealed in the wall cavity. Wall Mounted basins are ideal if you want to create an open feel bathroom or if space is a little tight.

As there is no storage with a wall mounted basin, if you are desperate for storage space then this might not be the best option.

WALL MOUNTED BASIN DESIGN:
• There are many designs available to suit traditional, contemporary and modern bathrooms.

• Traditional style wall mounted basins will generally be oval or semi-circular in shape and will have soap holders moulded into the basin.

• Wall mounted basins for the modern bathroom can be round, oval, square or rectangular with very simple and minimalist lines.

• Wall mounted basins will generally be made from porcelain or vitreous china, however they are available in glass and stone.

WALL MOUNTED BASIN SHAPES:
• The standard shapes for wall mounted basins are round, oval, square or rectangular. There are also a few shapes available for fitting into odd shaped corners, or in those tricky little spaces.

• Round or oval designs will generally have a flat back edge and a semi-circular bowl to maximize the space of the basin and to be able to be mounted to the wall.

• The look of the basin is very important, so is the practicality of it, make sure the basin you choose is easy to use for your particular application.

• Most square wall mounted basins will have pointed corners, bear this in mind, especially with small children.

WALL MOUNTED BASIN SIZE:
• Sizes will range from small round or semi-circular basins to large square, rectangle and oval basins.

• The depths of the bowls will vary greatly from shallow to deep bowls ideal for shaving in.

TAPWARE FOR WALL MOUNTED BASINS:
• Wall mounted basins are available with 1 taphole for a standard mixer tap, 3 tapholes for conventional tapware, or no tapholes.

• No taphole basins require the tapware to be wall mounted.

• Make sure before choosing a wall mounted basin you know what tapware options you can choose. You may already have the plumbing set to a particular type, e.g. Wall mounted tapware.

WASTE TRAP OPTIONS FOR WALL MOUNTED BASINS:
• The waste pipe for wall mounted basins is normally visible. The normal practice these days is to hide as much of the plumbing behind the wall.

• No matter where the plumbing is located, you will still see the trap. The standard trap most people will be familiar with is a white plastic or PVC trap, however there are traps available in chrome plated brass that look much nicer.

• Bottle traps are a better alternative. They are very “designer” in looks and will really enhance the wall basin.
